Meera Nair is 14 years old and is a rising sophomore at Biotechnology High School, Monmouth County Vocational School District. She started learning dance at age of 5 and has been trained under the guidance of Guru Suba Ramesh Parmar and Guru Swamimalai K. Suresh for the last 8 years. Meera is a high honor roll student showing academic excellence at her Magnet school and she has performed dance at various events.
Apart from dance, her passions include music, sports, dress designing & sewing, painting and science. She has been playing travel soccer for the past 8 years, playing basketball with Marlboro recreation, learning classical music and is a part of honors Choir and CJMEA. She is one of the executive team members of the Agraj Sewa kendra youth wing and served as the technical coordinator of the Agraj Youth Festival and has helped to plan many other Agraj events. She is also involved in several other youth volunteer groups and SEWA events. Meera has been influential in organizing STEM events with members of the youth wing and is actively involved in community events which led her to earn the presidential gold medal award for 2020. Her STEM enthusiasm led her to conduct research on COVID-19 in the pharmaceutical stream and published/presented her research at an undergraduate symposium and at JSHS Rutgers.
Her passion for arts and STEM led her to create ‘JWALA”, a group of teengers who share a similar enthusiasm, has choreographed for the team to perform at various events and is planning to do more in the near future utilizing the training she gained through this arangetram preparation.
